Floyd M. Boring

Floyd Boring was a Secret Service agent who guarded five U.S. presidents, and protected President Truman from an assasination attempt in 1950. Boring spent five years in the Pennsylvania state police after he graduated high school. He joined the Secret Service in 1943, and entered the White House protective detail in 1944. On November 1, 1950, Boring was stationed outside of the Blair House where President Truman resided. He defended the President's residence when two men, trying to further the cause of independence for Puerto Rico, fired gunshots at Boring and the other agents on duty. The assassination attempt failed and the two men were captured. During his career, Boring also protected Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson.
